Saline County Property Tax Assessor

The Saline County Assessor is Jessica Adcock Goodman. This is a county-wide elected office with a four-year term. The assessor keeps track of and values all real estate and tangible personal property in Saline County. Valuations are based on market value as required by the Missouri Constitution. Personal property is assessed every year. Real estate gets a full reassessment every two years in odd-numbered years. The Missouri State Tax Commission oversees the assessor's work.

Personal property assessment lists go out on January 1. They are due back by March 1. If you miss that date, you face statutory penalties under RSMo 137.280. The assessor also sends impact notices by June 15 if your value changed. Appeals to the Board of Equalization are due by the third Monday in July. Appeals from the board to the State Tax Commission are accepted through September 30.

Tax rates must be set and certified by September 1. Tax bills are prepared and sent out in November or December. The payment deadline is December 31.

The collector handles current and delinquent property taxes. The office collects, accounts for, and disburses upward of $19 million each year. Since 2015, you can make payments on both delinquent and current taxes at the same time. The collector also receives funds from Neighborhood Improvement Districts, cities, and drainage and levee districts. By law, the collector must use any legal means to collect delinquent taxes.

Tax bills go out in mid November. They are due upon receipt but no later than December 31. The postmark on your payment determines whether it is on time. The original owner has a redemption period to pay back the amount plus interest and fees.
