St. Peters Property Tax Collection
All St. Peters property taxes are collected by the St. Charles County Collector of Revenue. This is a legal requirement under the St. Peters City Code, which states that real and personal property taxes must be collected by the Collector of St. Charles County. The city itself has no role in collecting property taxes. Michelle D. McBride serves as the St. Charles County Collector.
You can search for St. Peters tax records and pay your bill through the St. Charles County Collector website. The online system lets you look up your property, view your current bill, and check payment history. Tax statements are mailed in October each year. Your bill is due by December 31. Interest and penalties apply if you do not pay on time.
The collector's office accepts payments by card, cash, check, or money order. If you go in person, you can leave with an official paid receipt the same day. Online payments carry processing fees that go to the vendor, not the county. If you need an official paid receipt for vehicle registration, do not pay online. Go to the collector's office instead. Online transaction receipts are not accepted by the Department of Revenue for license plate renewal.

Appeal St. Peters Property Tax Assessments
If you think your St. Peters property is valued too high, appeal to the St. Charles County Board of Equalization. File with the county clerk before the third Monday in June. Bring comparable sales data, a recent appraisal, or other evidence of a lower value. The board hears cases from across the county each year.
If the board does not adjust your value, take the case to the Missouri State Tax Commission. File by September 30 or within 30 days of the board's ruling. The commission holds hearings and can order the assessor to change the value. Residential appeals are free. The commission website has all the forms you need. Technical difficulties with the online payment site do not extend your time to pay or to avoid late penalties, so pay early to be safe.
St. Peters Property Tax Credits
Senior citizens and 100% disabled residents in St. Peters can apply for the Missouri Property Tax Credit. The maximum is $1,100 for homeowners and $750 for renters. File with the Missouri Department of Revenue. You need your paid tax receipt from St. Charles County. The credit is based on household income and what you paid in property taxes that year.
The Hancock Amendment in the Missouri Constitution adds another layer of protection. If reassessment pushes values up across the county, levy rates must roll back so total collections stay within limits. Two St. Peters homes with the same value can still have different bills if they sit in different school or fire districts, but the total revenue each district collects is capped without voter approval.
