Appealing Cedar County Tax Assessments

Property owners who disagree with their Cedar County assessment can file an appeal. Start with the assessor for an informal review. If that does not work, file with the Board of Equalization before the third Monday in June. Lake property values can be especially tricky because comparable sales may be limited.

Appeals beyond the county level go to the Missouri State Tax Commission. File by September 30. It costs nothing for residential property owners. The Missouri State Assessors Association provides additional resources and county assessor links.

Note: Waterfront property appeals in Cedar County often need specialized appraisals due to limited comparables.
