Daviess County Senior Tax Credit Program
Daviess County participates in the Senior Real Estate Tax Credit program under SB 190. This program freezes a portion of your property tax bill once you qualify. Applications are taken at the collector's office at 102 N. Main Street, Gallatin, MO 64640.
For the first year, the application window runs from May 1, 2025 through June 30, 2025. Starting in 2026, applications will be accepted from April 1 through June 30 each year. You need to bring your Missouri driver's license, voter registration card, a paid tax receipt, and the deed for your homestead. Call 660-663-3300, extension 3, or email colltreas@daviesscountymo.gov for details. You must reapply every year. If someone has power of attorney, include that paperwork with the application. Once approved, the credit amount shows up on your tax statement in November.
The state also runs a separate Property Tax Credit through the Missouri Department of Revenue. Homeowners can get up to $1,100 back on what they paid in property taxes.
