Dent County Senior Tax Credit

Dent County participates in the SB 190 Homestead Real Estate Tax Credit program for senior citizens. Applications are due by June 30 each year. You can pick up a form at the Dent County Collector's Office or print one from the Dent County senior tax relief page. The program freezes a part of your property tax bill once you qualify.

As of 2025, the collector's office received about 300 applications for the senior tax credit. This program is separate from the state Property Tax Credit run by the Missouri Department of Revenue. The state credit gives homeowners up to $1,100 and renters up to $750 back on taxes paid.

Dent County Tax Sale and Delinquent Taxes

Dent County holds a tax sale each year for real estate with taxes two or more years past due. In 2025, there were 36 properties outstanding from 2022 on the delinquent list. The delinquent tax deadline is June 30 for taxes two or more years old. After that, properties go to auction under Chapter 140 of the Missouri Revised Statutes. Payment for delinquent taxes must be made by cash or cashier's check only. No personal checks are accepted for past-due amounts.
